Maytag Microwave Repair in Houses, Apartments and Rentals

We have no affiliation with Maytag and are not one of its service centers. A microwave still covered by the Maytag warranty belongs with Maytag first. Once it's out of coverage, give us the model number and the symptom when you book so we can look into parts ahead of time.

Basement laundry
In older houses the washer and dryer are often downstairs, past narrow steps and low beams, draining to a laundry tub or floor drain. Tell us how to get down there.
Rowhouses & older homes
New appliances often sit on old wiring, gas lines and vents. We check what feeds the machine as well as the machine.
Hillsides & parking
Steps up to the front door, permit-only blocks, alley entrances. A note about access when you book gets the visit started sooner.
Rentals & landlords
Tenants can book. The owner or manager gets the diagnosis and the price, and approves before any work.
Cold garages & porches
A spare fridge or freezer in an unheated space may stop holding temperature in winter without anything having failed. Check the manual's temperature range first.
Honest advice
If an older machine isn't worth the repair, we'll tell you so, and explain what actually broke.

How a Microwave Repair Visit Works

01

Describe the Problem

The brand, the model number if it's handy, and what the appliance is doing. A photo of the rating label is a bonus.

02

Diagnosis On Site

The technician tests the appliance and its power, water, drain, gas or vent until the failed part is found.

03

Explanation and Quote

You hear what failed and what the repair costs, then decide. Nothing starts without your OK.

04

Repair and Test

The part goes in, the appliance runs a cycle, and you see that it works before we leave.

How Maytag builds its microwaves

The Maytag over-the-range microwave is really two appliances: a microwave and a vent hood with its own fan and light. When it runs but does not heat, the high-voltage parts are the suspects: the magnetron, the diode, the capacitor and the transformer. These store dangerous charge even when unplugged, so they are discharged and tested safely. A microwave that won't start at all, or kills power as the door shuts, often has a failed door switch or a blown fuse caused by one. The vent fan can wear and rattle, and a worn keypad stops responding on certain buttons. Mounting on a wall plate means two people are needed to remove it.

Parts that tend to fail on Maytag microwaves

  • Magnetron or diode failed, no heat
  • Door switch blown, unit dead
  • Vent fan motor rattling
  • Keypad buttons not registering
  • Turntable motor stopped

FAQ

Maytag Microwave: Questions We Hear

Quick answers to what people ask most. If yours isn't here, bring it up on the phone or type it into the notes box when you book.

Something else on your mind?

Reach out with the brand, the symptom and a model number if you have one. Some questions we can answer on the spot; the rest a technician can check in person.

It depends on which part failed and the age of the unit. A diode or door switch is minor. If an older unit needs both a magnetron and a board, a new microwave may be the smarter spend. We diagnose first.

We don't recommend it. A microwave holds a charge in the capacitor even unplugged, and wrong switch wiring can blow the fuse again. We discharge and test before replacing.
