Amana Microwave Repair in Houses, Apartments and Rentals

We have no affiliation with Amana and are not one of its service centers. A microwave still covered by the Amana warranty belongs with Amana first. Once it's out of coverage, give us the model number and the symptom when you book so we can look into parts ahead of time.

Basement laundry
In older houses the washer and dryer are often downstairs, past narrow steps and low beams, draining to a laundry tub or floor drain. Tell us how to get down there.
Rowhouses & older homes
New appliances often sit on old wiring, gas lines and vents. We check what feeds the machine as well as the machine.
Hillsides & parking
Steps up to the front door, permit-only blocks, alley entrances. A note about access when you book gets the visit started sooner.
Rentals & landlords
Tenants can book. The owner or manager gets the diagnosis and the price, and approves before any work.
Cold garages & porches
A spare fridge or freezer in an unheated space may stop holding temperature in winter without anything having failed. Check the manual's temperature range first.
Honest advice
If an older machine isn't worth the repair, we'll tell you so, and explain what actually broke.

How a Microwave Repair Visit Works

01

Describe the Problem

The brand, the model number if it's handy, and what the appliance is doing. A photo of the rating label is a bonus.

02

Diagnosis On Site

The technician tests the appliance and its power, water, drain, gas or vent until the failed part is found.

03

Explanation and Quote

You hear what failed and what the repair costs, then decide. Nothing starts without your OK.

04

Repair and Test

The part goes in, the appliance runs a cycle, and you see that it works before we leave.

What's inside an Amana microwave

Amana microwaves include over-the-range models that also vent the cooktop and countertop models. The common faults are one that hums and spins with no heat, usually traced to an interlock switch, the high-voltage diode or capacitor, or the magnetron, a turntable motor that stops, and a vent fan that is noisy or dead. Over-the-range units also have grease filters that need regular cleaning. Because the capacitor holds high voltage after unplugging, it is discharged before testing. A stopped vent fan or a light that no longer works is a small repair. On an inexpensive microwave, a magnetron or board failure often makes replacement the better choice, and over-the-range models also need a helper and the mounting plate to come down, so that goes into the comparison.

Parts that tend to fail on Amana microwaves

  • Door switch failing
  • Diode or capacitor failed
  • Magnetron not heating
  • Turntable motor stopped
  • Vent fan noisy

FAQ

Amana Microwave: Questions We Hear

Quick answers to what people ask most. If yours isn't here, bring it up on the phone or type it into the notes box when you book.

Something else on your mind?

Reach out with the brand, the symptom and a model number if you have one. Some questions we can answer on the spot; the rest a technician can check in person.

Door switches, the diode, the capacitor and the magnetron are the usual suspects. We discharge the capacitor and test each part before recommending a repair.

For a switch, fan or turntable motor, often yes. A magnetron or board on an aging microwave tends to cost enough that a new one wins.
