Gaggenau Microwave Repair in Houses, Apartments and Rentals

We have no affiliation with Gaggenau and are not one of its service centers. A microwave still covered by the Gaggenau warranty belongs with Gaggenau first. Once it's out of coverage, give us the model number and the symptom when you book so we can look into parts ahead of time.

Basement laundry
In older houses the washer and dryer are often downstairs, past narrow steps and low beams, draining to a laundry tub or floor drain. Tell us how to get down there.
Rowhouses & older homes
New appliances often sit on old wiring, gas lines and vents. We check what feeds the machine as well as the machine.
Hillsides & parking
Steps up to the front door, permit-only blocks, alley entrances. A note about access when you book gets the visit started sooner.
Rentals & landlords
Tenants can book. The owner or manager gets the diagnosis and the price, and approves before any work.
Cold garages & porches
A spare fridge or freezer in an unheated space may stop holding temperature in winter without anything having failed. Check the manual's temperature range first.
Honest advice
If an older machine isn't worth the repair, we'll tell you so, and explain what actually broke.

How a Microwave Repair Visit Works

01

Describe the Problem

The brand, the model number if it's handy, and what the appliance is doing. A photo of the rating label is a bonus.

02

Diagnosis On Site

The technician tests the appliance and its power, water, drain, gas or vent until the failed part is found.

03

Explanation and Quote

You hear what failed and what the repair costs, then decide. Nothing starts without your OK.

04

Repair and Test

The part goes in, the appliance runs a cycle, and you see that it works before we leave.

How Gaggenau builds its microwaves

Gaggenau microwaves are built in: stand-alone microwave ovens in the wall column and combination units that add a convection oven. The high-voltage section works like any microwave, with a magnetron, transformer, capacitor and diode behind door interlock switches that have to close in the right order. Combination models add an element and a fan, and because they run hotter, their cooling fans and controls work harder. Side-hinged doors on some models carry their weight on the hinges, and a door that sags can upset the interlocks and blow a fuse. Since the unit is sized to a cutout and trimmed to match the ovens around it, repair is nearly always preferable to replacement.

Parts that tend to fail on Gaggenau microwaves

  • Magnetron or high-voltage diode failed
  • Door interlock switch fault
  • Convection element or fan failure
  • Cooling fan not running
  • Control panel not responding

FAQ

Gaggenau Microwave: Questions We Hear

Quick answers to what people ask most. If yours isn't here, bring it up on the phone or type it into the notes box when you book.

Something else on your mind?

Reach out with the brand, the symptom and a model number if you have one. Some questions we can answer on the spot; the rest a technician can check in person.

The hum means the transformer has power, but the high-voltage circuit isn't producing microwaves. The magnetron, diode or capacitor is the usual cause. We discharge the capacitor safely and test each one.

Physically it may be possible, but cutouts and trim differ and matching the ovens beside it is hard. Repair is usually the better option. If parts turn out to be unavailable, we tell you and talk through the alternatives.
