Viking Microwave Repair in Houses, Apartments and Rentals

We have no affiliation with Viking and are not one of its service centers. A microwave still covered by the Viking warranty belongs with Viking first. Once it's out of coverage, give us the model number and the symptom when you book so we can look into parts ahead of time.

Basement laundry
In older houses the washer and dryer are often downstairs, past narrow steps and low beams, draining to a laundry tub or floor drain. Tell us how to get down there.
Rowhouses & older homes
New appliances often sit on old wiring, gas lines and vents. We check what feeds the machine as well as the machine.
Hillsides & parking
Steps up to the front door, permit-only blocks, alley entrances. A note about access when you book gets the visit started sooner.
Rentals & landlords
Tenants can book. The owner or manager gets the diagnosis and the price, and approves before any work.
Cold garages & porches
A spare fridge or freezer in an unheated space may stop holding temperature in winter without anything having failed. Check the manual's temperature range first.
Honest advice
If an older machine isn't worth the repair, we'll tell you so, and explain what actually broke.

How a Microwave Repair Visit Works

01

Describe the Problem

The brand, the model number if it's handy, and what the appliance is doing. A photo of the rating label is a bonus.

02

Diagnosis On Site

The technician tests the appliance and its power, water, drain, gas or vent until the failed part is found.

03

Explanation and Quote

You hear what failed and what the repair costs, then decide. Nothing starts without your OK.

04

Repair and Test

The part goes in, the appliance runs a cycle, and you see that it works before we leave.

How Viking builds its microwaves

Viking microwaves are usually built in: drawer-style units under the counter, or microwaves and convection microwaves set into a wall oven stack with a trim kit. Drawer models add a motorized opening mechanism, and a drawer that stalls, opens partway or will not close usually points to that mechanism, its gears, or an obstruction in the track. Door and drawer interlock switches are the most common cause of a unit that lights up but does not heat, and the magnetron, high-voltage diode or capacitor can fail too. Because microwaves store high voltage even when unplugged, the capacitor is discharged before any testing. Control panels and touchpads can also stop responding.

Parts that tend to fail on Viking microwaves

  • Drawer mechanism stalling
  • Interlock switch failing
  • Magnetron not producing heat
  • High-voltage diode shorted
  • Touchpad not responding

FAQ

Viking Microwave: Questions We Hear

Quick answers to what people ask most. If yours isn't here, bring it up on the phone or type it into the notes box when you book.

Something else on your mind?

Reach out with the brand, the symptom and a model number if you have one. Some questions we can answer on the spot; the rest a technician can check in person.

Often. The drawer runs on a motor and gear mechanism along tracks. We check for obstructions, then test the motor, gears and switches before recommending parts.

The door interlock switches, the high-voltage diode, the capacitor and the magnetron are the usual suspects. We discharge the capacitor and test each part before replacing anything.
