Whirlpool Microwave Repair in Houses, Apartments and Rentals

We have no affiliation with Whirlpool and are not one of its service centers. A microwave still covered by the Whirlpool warranty belongs with Whirlpool first. Once it's out of coverage, give us the model number and the symptom when you book so we can look into parts ahead of time.

Basement laundry
In older houses the washer and dryer are often downstairs, past narrow steps and low beams, draining to a laundry tub or floor drain. Tell us how to get down there.
Rowhouses & older homes
New appliances often sit on old wiring, gas lines and vents. We check what feeds the machine as well as the machine.
Hillsides & parking
Steps up to the front door, permit-only blocks, alley entrances. A note about access when you book gets the visit started sooner.
Rentals & landlords
Tenants can book. The owner or manager gets the diagnosis and the price, and approves before any work.
Cold garages & porches
A spare fridge or freezer in an unheated space may stop holding temperature in winter without anything having failed. Check the manual's temperature range first.
Honest advice
If an older machine isn't worth the repair, we'll tell you so, and explain what actually broke.

How a Microwave Repair Visit Works

01

Describe the Problem

The brand, the model number if it's handy, and what the appliance is doing. A photo of the rating label is a bonus.

02

Diagnosis On Site

The technician tests the appliance and its power, water, drain, gas or vent until the failed part is found.

03

Explanation and Quote

You hear what failed and what the repair costs, then decide. Nothing starts without your OK.

04

Repair and Test

The part goes in, the appliance runs a cycle, and you see that it works before we leave.

How Whirlpool builds its microwaves

Most Whirlpool microwaves in local kitchens are over-the-range units that double as the range hood. The fan, lights and grease filters are part of the repair, as are the usual microwave faults: a magnetron, diode or capacitor failure that stops heating, a door switch that blows the fuse, or a keypad that stops responding. The high-voltage parts hold a dangerous charge even after unplugging, so this is not a DIY job. Removing an over-the-range microwave takes two people and access to the cabinet above. For a basic countertop Whirlpool, replacement is often the more sensible choice, and we'll say so.

Parts that tend to fail on Whirlpool microwaves

  • Magnetron or diode failed
  • Door switch worn and blowing the fuse
  • Vent fan motor failed
  • Keypad not responding
  • Turntable motor stopped

The general microwave repair guide covers faults that turn up on every make.

FAQ

Whirlpool Microwave: Questions We Hear

Quick answers to what people ask most. If yours isn't here, bring it up on the phone or type it into the notes box when you book.

Something else on your mind?

Reach out with the brand, the symptom and a model number if you have one. Some questions we can answer on the spot; the rest a technician can check in person.

A door switch probably failed and blew the fuse. We replace the fuse and the faulty switch together, because replacing only the fuse doesn't fix the cause.

Often yes, because replacing it also means removing and reinstalling a hood. Magnetrons, switches and fans are common repairs. We quote before any work.
