Sharp Microwave Repair in Houses, Apartments and Rentals

We have no affiliation with Sharp and are not one of its service centers. A microwave still covered by the Sharp warranty belongs with Sharp first. Once it's out of coverage, give us the model number and the symptom when you book so we can look into parts ahead of time.

Basement laundry
In older houses the washer and dryer are often downstairs, past narrow steps and low beams, draining to a laundry tub or floor drain. Tell us how to get down there.
Rowhouses & older homes
New appliances often sit on old wiring, gas lines and vents. We check what feeds the machine as well as the machine.
Hillsides & parking
Steps up to the front door, permit-only blocks, alley entrances. A note about access when you book gets the visit started sooner.
Rentals & landlords
Tenants can book. The owner or manager gets the diagnosis and the price, and approves before any work.
Cold garages & porches
A spare fridge or freezer in an unheated space may stop holding temperature in winter without anything having failed. Check the manual's temperature range first.
Honest advice
If an older machine isn't worth the repair, we'll tell you so, and explain what actually broke.

How a Microwave Repair Visit Works

01

Describe the Problem

The brand, the model number if it's handy, and what the appliance is doing. A photo of the rating label is a bonus.

02

Diagnosis On Site

The technician tests the appliance and its power, water, drain, gas or vent until the failed part is found.

03

Explanation and Quote

You hear what failed and what the repair costs, then decide. Nothing starts without your OK.

04

Repair and Test

The part goes in, the appliance runs a cycle, and you see that it works before we leave.

How Sharp builds its microwaves

Sharp's microwave drawer uses a motor to open and close the drawer on command, with sensors to detect position and a latch system that must confirm the drawer is closed before heating. When a drawer won't open, won't close or stops partway, we check the motor, gears, track and door sensing parts. On any Sharp microwave, no heat usually traces to the high-voltage system: magnetron, diode, capacitor or transformer. Door switches and fuses fail too. Over-the-range models add a vent fan and lighting. We discharge and test high-voltage parts safely before replacing anything.

Parts that tend to fail on Sharp microwaves

  • Drawer won't open or close
  • Drawer stops partway
  • Runs but doesn't heat
  • Door switch or fuse failure
  • Control panel not responding

FAQ

Sharp Microwave: Questions We Hear

Quick answers to what people ask most. If yours isn't here, bring it up on the phone or type it into the notes box when you book.

Something else on your mind?

Reach out with the brand, the symptom and a model number if you have one. Some questions we can answer on the spot; the rest a technician can check in person.

It may be the drawer motor, gears, track or position sensors. Something blocking the track is also possible. We test the mechanism before replacing parts.

The high-voltage parts are the usual cause: magnetron, diode, capacitor or transformer. We test each one safely.
