KitchenAid Microwave Repair in Houses, Apartments and Rentals

We have no affiliation with KitchenAid and are not one of its service centers. A microwave still covered by the KitchenAid warranty belongs with KitchenAid first. Once it's out of coverage, give us the model number and the symptom when you book so we can look into parts ahead of time.

Basement laundry
In older houses the washer and dryer are often downstairs, past narrow steps and low beams, draining to a laundry tub or floor drain. Tell us how to get down there.
Rowhouses & older homes
New appliances often sit on old wiring, gas lines and vents. We check what feeds the machine as well as the machine.
Hillsides & parking
Steps up to the front door, permit-only blocks, alley entrances. A note about access when you book gets the visit started sooner.
Rentals & landlords
Tenants can book. The owner or manager gets the diagnosis and the price, and approves before any work.
Cold garages & porches
A spare fridge or freezer in an unheated space may stop holding temperature in winter without anything having failed. Check the manual's temperature range first.
Honest advice
If an older machine isn't worth the repair, we'll tell you so, and explain what actually broke.

How a Microwave Repair Visit Works

01

Describe the Problem

The brand, the model number if it's handy, and what the appliance is doing. A photo of the rating label is a bonus.

02

Diagnosis On Site

The technician tests the appliance and its power, water, drain, gas or vent until the failed part is found.

03

Explanation and Quote

You hear what failed and what the repair costs, then decide. Nothing starts without your OK.

04

Repair and Test

The part goes in, the appliance runs a cycle, and you see that it works before we leave.

How KitchenAid builds its microwaves

KitchenAid microwaves come as over-the-range units, built-in microwaves and the upper half of combination wall ovens, which can include a convection element in the microwave cavity. A microwave that runs but doesn't heat points to the magnetron, diode, capacitor or transformer, and the capacitor must be discharged before testing. Door interlock switches wear and can blow the main fuse. Over-the-range models add a vent fan and light. On a combination wall oven, the microwave shares a frame with the oven below, so removal is more involved. Touch panels can fail with age and from steam.

Parts that tend to fail on KitchenAid microwaves

  • Magnetron failed, no heating
  • Door interlock switch blown
  • Convection element failed on a combination unit
  • Vent fan motor noisy
  • Touch panel not responding

FAQ

KitchenAid Microwave: Questions We Hear

Quick answers to what people ask most. If yours isn't here, bring it up on the phone or type it into the notes box when you book.

Something else on your mind?

Reach out with the brand, the symptom and a model number if you have one. Some questions we can answer on the spot; the rest a technician can check in person.

The microwave's convection element, fan or relay may have failed. Those are separate from the magnetron circuit. We test them to find the failure.

Usually an interlock switch shorted and blew the main fuse. We test the switches, replace the failed one and the fuse, and confirm the door closes properly.
