Hotpoint Microwave Repair in Houses, Apartments and Rentals
We have no affiliation with Hotpoint and are not one of its service centers. A microwave still covered by the Hotpoint warranty belongs with Hotpoint first. Once it's out of coverage, give us the model number and the symptom when you book so we can look into parts ahead of time.
How a Microwave Repair Visit Works
Describe the Problem
The brand, the model number if it's handy, and what the appliance is doing. A photo of the rating label is a bonus.
Diagnosis On Site
The technician tests the appliance and its power, water, drain, gas or vent until the failed part is found.
Explanation and Quote
You hear what failed and what the repair costs, then decide. Nothing starts without your OK.
Repair and Test
The part goes in, the appliance runs a cycle, and you see that it works before we leave.
What's inside a Hotpoint microwave
Hotpoint sells over-the-range microwaves that double as the stove's vent hood, plus countertop models, and the over-the-range type is where most repairs happen. No heat points to the high-voltage section: the magnetron, diode, capacitor or transformer. A completely dead unit often has a blown fuse caused by a door switch problem. The interlock switches have to close in sequence, and a worn latch can blow the fuse again and again until it's fixed. The vent fan and lights take heat and grease from the stove below, so fans and bulbs fail as well. Because an over-the-range unit is bolted to the wall and cabinet, repair often makes sense; a countertop model often doesn't.
Parts that tend to fail on Hotpoint microwaves
- Magnetron failed, no heat
- Door switch blowing fuse
- High-voltage diode shorted
- Vent fan motor failing
- Touchpad not responding

Hotpoint Microwave: Questions We Hear
Quick answers to what people ask most. If yours isn't here, bring it up on the phone or type it into the notes box when you book.
Something else on your mind?
Reach out with the brand, the symptom and a model number if you have one. Some questions we can answer on the spot; the rest a technician can check in person.
Often. A blown fuse usually follows a door switch fault, so we replace the fuse and test the switches, or the new fuse will blow as well.
Usually not, unless the fix is very simple. Over-the-range models are different, because replacing one means taking down and hanging a new unit.
