Kenmore Microwave Repair in Houses, Apartments and Rentals
We have no affiliation with Kenmore and are not one of its service centers. A microwave still covered by the Kenmore warranty belongs with Kenmore first. Once it's out of coverage, give us the model number and the symptom when you book so we can look into parts ahead of time.

What's inside a Kenmore microwave
Kenmore microwaves have come from outside makers, LG among them, so the label is read before any part is looked up. Over-the-range models do double duty: they cook and serve as the range hood, so they have a vent fan and grease filters as well as a magnetron and high-voltage circuit. The most common faults are one that turns and hums with cold food, from a door switch, diode, capacitor or magnetron failure, a turntable motor that stops, and a vent fan that is noisy or dead. A microwave's capacitor holds high voltage after it is unplugged, so it is discharged before testing.
Parts that tend to fail on Kenmore microwaves
- Door switch failing
- Magnetron not heating
- High-voltage diode failed
- Turntable motor stopped
- Vent fan noisy
The general microwave repair guide covers faults that turn up on every make.
Kenmore Microwave: Questions We Hear
Quick answers to what people ask most. If yours isn't here, bring it up on the phone or type it into the notes box when you book.
Something else on your mind?
Reach out with the brand, the symptom and a model number if you have one. Some questions we can answer on the spot; the rest a technician can check in person.
The door switches, high-voltage diode, capacitor and magnetron are the common causes. We discharge the capacitor and test each part before replacing anything.
A switch, hood fan or turntable motor is normally worth replacing. When the magnetron or the main board has gone on an older unit, the numbers get close to a new microwave, and we lay out both.
