How a Refrigerator Repair Visit Works
Describe the Problem
The brand, the model number if it's handy, and what the appliance is doing. A photo of the rating label is a bonus.
Diagnosis On Site
The technician tests the appliance and its power, water, drain, gas or vent until the failed part is found.

How Blomberg builds its refrigerators
Blomberg refrigerators are counter-depth designs, many in 24- and 30-inch widths, so they are shallow and tightly packaged. They are frost-free: an evaporator coil behind the freezer panel is cleared by a defrost heater, and a fan moves cold air to the fresh-food side through a damper or duct. When the fresh-food section warms while the freezer stays cold, the coil has iced over or the fan or damper has failed. Water pooling in the bottom or ice on the back wall usually traces to a blocked defrost drain. Built-in and counter-depth models breathe through front or bottom grilles, and those need clearance and cleaning to keep the compressor from running hot.
Parts that tend to fail on Blomberg refrigerators
- Defrost drain frozen and dripping
- Evaporator fan motor noisy
- Fresh-food air damper stuck
- Thermistor reading out of range
- Door seal pulling away

Blomberg Refrigerator: Questions We Hear
Quick answers to what people ask most. If yours isn't here, bring it up on the phone or type it into the notes box when you book.
Something else on your mind?
Reach out with the brand, the symptom and a model number if you have one. Some questions we can answer on the spot; the rest a technician can check in person.
Defrost water normally drains from the freezer coil down a tube to a pan near the compressor. If the drain freezes or clogs, the water overflows into the fresh-food section. We clear the drain and check the defrost heater so the problem doesn't return.
Modern compressors often run long, slow cycles, so some of that is normal. Constant running with rising temperatures is not. Dust in the condenser, a blocked front grille, a leaking door seal or a stalled condenser fan are common causes, and we check those first.
