Viking Refrigerator Repair in Houses, Apartments and Rentals

We have no affiliation with Viking and are not one of its service centers. A refrigerator still covered by the Viking warranty belongs with Viking first. Once it's out of coverage, give us the model number and the symptom when you book so we can look into parts ahead of time.

Basement laundry
In older houses the washer and dryer are often downstairs, past narrow steps and low beams, draining to a laundry tub or floor drain. Tell us how to get down there.
Rowhouses & older homes
New appliances often sit on old wiring, gas lines and vents. We check what feeds the machine as well as the machine.
Hillsides & parking
Steps up to the front door, permit-only blocks, alley entrances. A note about access when you book gets the visit started sooner.
Rentals & landlords
Tenants can book. The owner or manager gets the diagnosis and the price, and approves before any work.
Cold garages & porches
A spare fridge or freezer in an unheated space may stop holding temperature in winter without anything having failed. Check the manual's temperature range first.
Honest advice
If an older machine isn't worth the repair, we'll tell you so, and explain what actually broke.

How a Refrigerator Repair Visit Works

01

Describe the Problem

The brand, the model number if it's handy, and what the appliance is doing. A photo of the rating label is a bonus.

02

Diagnosis On Site

The technician tests the appliance and its power, water, drain, gas or vent until the failed part is found.

03

Explanation and Quote

You hear what failed and what the repair costs, then decide. Nothing starts without your OK.

04

Repair and Test

The part goes in, the appliance runs a cycle, and you see that it works before we leave.

How Viking builds its refrigerators

Viking built-in refrigerators keep their compressor and condenser in a machine compartment behind a grille, and in a kitchen with a big gas range nearby that grille pulls in airborne grease. Once the condenser mats over, the unit runs constantly and still loses temperature. With the coil clean, attention moves to the two fan motors and to defrost, where a failed heater or thermostat lets the coil ice over. Door hinges and closers work hard on tall stainless or panel-ready doors and can sag until the gasket leaks. Ice makers and water valves round out the list. Some older Viking refrigerator parts are no longer made, so supply is checked before anything is promised.

Parts that tend to fail on Viking refrigerators

  • Condenser clogged with cooking grease
  • Condenser fan motor stopped
  • Evaporator frozen after defrost failure
  • Door hinge sagging and gasket leaking
  • Ice maker not filling

FAQ

Viking Refrigerator: Questions We Hear

Quick answers to what people ask most. If yours isn't here, bring it up on the phone or type it into the notes box when you book.

Something else on your mind?

Reach out with the brand, the symptom and a model number if you have one. Some questions we can answer on the spot; the rest a technician can check in person.

Start with the condenser behind the grille. A layer of grease and dust keeps it from releasing heat, so the compressor never catches up. If it is clean, the condenser and evaporator fans and the defrost system are tested next.

Many can: fans, valves, gaskets and defrost parts often have current or equivalent replacements. Some control boards and ice maker assemblies for older models are discontinued. We check your exact model before quoting.
