Insignia Refrigerator Repair in Houses, Apartments and Rentals

We have no affiliation with Insignia and are not one of its service centers. A refrigerator still covered by the Insignia warranty belongs with Insignia first. Once it's out of coverage, give us the model number and the symptom when you book so we can look into parts ahead of time.

Basement laundry
In older houses the washer and dryer are often downstairs, past narrow steps and low beams, draining to a laundry tub or floor drain. Tell us how to get down there.
Rowhouses & older homes
New appliances often sit on old wiring, gas lines and vents. We check what feeds the machine as well as the machine.
Hillsides & parking
Steps up to the front door, permit-only blocks, alley entrances. A note about access when you book gets the visit started sooner.
Rentals & landlords
Tenants can book. The owner or manager gets the diagnosis and the price, and approves before any work.
Cold garages & porches
A spare fridge or freezer in an unheated space may stop holding temperature in winter without anything having failed. Check the manual's temperature range first.
Honest advice
If an older machine isn't worth the repair, we'll tell you so, and explain what actually broke.

How a Refrigerator Repair Visit Works

01

Describe the Problem

The brand, the model number if it's handy, and what the appliance is doing. A photo of the rating label is a bonus.

02

Diagnosis On Site

The technician tests the appliance and its power, water, drain, gas or vent until the failed part is found.

03

Explanation and Quote

You hear what failed and what the repair costs, then decide. Nothing starts without your OK.

04

Repair and Test

The part goes in, the appliance runs a cycle, and you see that it works before we leave.

What's inside an Insignia refrigerator

Insignia refrigerators range from dorm-size cubes to top-freezer and a few larger models, built by different manufacturers. Compact models usually have a manual-defrost evaporator forming a small freezer compartment and a mechanical thermostat, while top-freezer models may be frost-free with a defrost heater, sensor and fan. That split decides the diagnosis. A compact unit that won't cool usually has a thermostat, start relay or refrigerant problem, and a thick coat of frost can simply mean it's overdue for defrosting. A frost-free unit that warms points to the defrost system or a fan. We confirm the design from the model number before testing parts, and we check parts availability before quoting anything.

Parts that tend to fail on Insignia refrigerators

  • Thermostat not cycling
  • Start relay or overload failed
  • Defrost heater or sensor failed
  • Evaporator fan motor stopped
  • Door gasket not sealing

FAQ

Insignia Refrigerator: Questions We Hear

Quick answers to what people ask most. If yours isn't here, bring it up on the phone or type it into the notes box when you book.

Something else on your mind?

Reach out with the brand, the symptom and a model number if you have one. Some questions we can answer on the spot; the rest a technician can check in person.

Probably not. Many compact models need manual defrosting. Unplug it, leave the door open to thaw with towels underneath, and dry it out. If it frosts over again quickly, check the door gasket.

It could be the start relay, the overload or a blocked condenser. If those test fine, the compressor or refrigerant may be at fault, which usually isn't worth repairing on an inexpensive unit.
