Sub-Zero Refrigerator Repair in Houses, Apartments and Rentals
We have no affiliation with Sub-Zero and are not one of its service centers. A refrigerator still covered by the Sub-Zero warranty belongs with Sub-Zero first. Once it's out of coverage, give us the model number and the symptom when you book so we can look into parts ahead of time.
How a Refrigerator Repair Visit Works
Describe the Problem
The brand, the model number if it's handy, and what the appliance is doing. A photo of the rating label is a bonus.
Diagnosis On Site
The technician tests the appliance and its power, water, drain, gas or vent until the failed part is found.
Explanation and Quote
You hear what failed and what the repair costs, then decide. Nothing starts without your OK.
Repair and Test
The part goes in, the appliance runs a cycle, and you see that it works before we leave.
How Sub-Zero builds its refrigerators
A Sub-Zero with a warm fresh-food section and a cold freezer points straight at the fresh-food circuit, because dual refrigeration keeps the two apart. From there the checks run in a set order: condenser loading behind the top grille, the condenser fan, the fresh-food evaporator fan, then whether that evaporator has frosted solid after a defrost fault. Door closer cams and hinges take real abuse on tall, heavy panel-ready doors, and a door that no longer pulls itself shut lets humid air in and frosts the coil. Water valves and filter heads on dispenser and ice models are the other regular items. Sealed-system leaks do happen, but they are diagnosed with gauges, not assumed.
Parts that tend to fail on Sub-Zero refrigerators
- Condenser matted with grease and dust
- Fresh-food evaporator fan not running
- Evaporator iced after a defrost failure
- Door closer no longer pulling the door shut
- Water valve leaking in the machine compartment

Something else on your mind?
Reach out with the brand, the symptom and a model number if you have one. Some questions we can answer on the spot; the rest a technician can check in person.
The two sections have separate sealed systems, so the fault is on the fresh-food side: most often a stopped evaporator fan, a frosted-over coil after a defrost problem, or a condenser too dirty for that compressor to keep up. We test that circuit rather than the whole unit.
Yes. Built-in doors use a closer mechanism at the hinge, and those wear or break, especially under heavy custom panels. The closer or hinge part is replaced and the door is realigned so the gasket seals evenly.
