LG Refrigerator Repair in Houses, Apartments and Rentals
We have no affiliation with LG and are not one of its service centers. A refrigerator still covered by the LG warranty belongs with LG first. Once it's out of coverage, give us the model number and the symptom when you book so we can look into parts ahead of time.
How a Refrigerator Repair Visit Works
Describe the Problem
The brand, the model number if it's handy, and what the appliance is doing. A photo of the rating label is a bonus.
Diagnosis On Site
The technician tests the appliance and its power, water, drain, gas or vent until the failed part is found.
Explanation and Quote
You hear what failed and what the repair costs, then decide. Nothing starts without your OK.
Repair and Test
The part goes in, the appliance runs a cycle, and you see that it works before we leave.
How LG builds its refrigerators
LG refrigerators run inverter compressors, and many French-door models use LG's linear compressor, whose piston is pushed back and forth by a magnetic drive with no crankshaft. When one of these fridges stops cooling, the fault may be the compressor, its inverter board, or a much simpler part, such as a fan motor or a defrost failure, so we measure before naming anything. Many LG units show codes such as Er FF for a freezer fan, Er IF for the ice fan and Er dH for a defrost problem. The ice maker in the fresh-food door is a known trouble spot: ice builds up in the compartment, the fan freezes and the bin jams. Check LG's compressor coverage before paying for sealed-system work.
Parts that tend to fail on LG refrigerators
- Linear compressor not starting
- Ice compartment frosting over
- Freezer fan motor stopped (Er FF)
- Defrost heater circuit open (Er dH)
- Water valve leaking behind the unit

Something else on your mind?
Reach out with the brand, the symptom and a model number if you have one. Some questions we can answer on the spot; the rest a technician can check in person.
It can be, but a fan or defrost failure causes the same symptom and is a much smaller repair. We check the fans, the evaporator and the compressor's operation before calling it. If the compressor has failed, check LG's extended coverage for your model first.
It points to the ice fan circuit, which moves cold air into the ice compartment. The fan may be frozen in ice or have failed. We check for ice buildup and test the fan and its wiring.
