KitchenAid Dishwasher Repair in Houses, Apartments and Rentals

We have no affiliation with KitchenAid and are not one of its service centers. A dishwasher still covered by the KitchenAid warranty belongs with KitchenAid first. Once it's out of coverage, give us the model number and the symptom when you book so we can look into parts ahead of time.

Basement laundry
In older houses the washer and dryer are often downstairs, past narrow steps and low beams, draining to a laundry tub or floor drain. Tell us how to get down there.
Rowhouses & older homes
New appliances often sit on old wiring, gas lines and vents. We check what feeds the machine as well as the machine.
Hillsides & parking
Steps up to the front door, permit-only blocks, alley entrances. A note about access when you book gets the visit started sooner.
Rentals & landlords
Tenants can book. The owner or manager gets the diagnosis and the price, and approves before any work.
Cold garages & porches
A spare fridge or freezer in an unheated space may stop holding temperature in winter without anything having failed. Check the manual's temperature range first.
Honest advice
If an older machine isn't worth the repair, we'll tell you so, and explain what actually broke.

How a Dishwasher Repair Visit Works

01

Describe the Problem

The brand, the model number if it's handy, and what the appliance is doing. A photo of the rating label is a bonus.

02

Diagnosis On Site

The technician tests the appliance and its power, water, drain, gas or vent until the failed part is found.

03

Explanation and Quote

You hear what failed and what the repair costs, then decide. Nothing starts without your OK.

04

Repair and Test

The part goes in, the appliance runs a cycle, and you see that it works before we leave.

How KitchenAid builds its dishwashers

KitchenAid dishwashers come from the same Whirlpool dishwasher family as Maytag and Whirlpool, but add third racks, ProWash sensing cycles and, on many models, a fan to help drying. Newer models rely on a removable filter at the bottom of the tub rather than the older hard-food disposer, so a filter that is never rinsed is a common cause of poor results and bad smells. Other frequent repairs are the drain pump, the inlet valve, the door latch and the float switch that stops filling. Older KitchenAid units with the disposer grinder can jam on hard debris. Mineral scale from tap water builds on spray arms and heating parts, so vinegar or a descaler helps.

Parts that tend to fail on KitchenAid dishwashers

  • Filter clogged, poor wash results
  • Drain pump failing
  • Inlet valve not filling
  • Door latch not closing the circuit
  • Drying fan not running

FAQ

KitchenAid Dishwasher: Questions We Hear

Quick answers to what people ask most. If yours isn't here, bring it up on the phone or type it into the notes box when you book.

Something else on your mind?

Reach out with the brand, the symptom and a model number if you have one. Some questions we can answer on the spot; the rest a technician can check in person.

Often you need a filter cleaning. Twist out the filter from the bottom of the tub and rinse it, then clear the spray arm holes. If the problem continues, we test the drain and wash systems.

It might be the drying fan, or the heating element on models that have one. Also check the rinse aid dispenser. We test the drying parts and confirm the cycle settings.
