How Smeg builds its dishwashers
Smeg dishwashers follow European design, with a multi-part filter at the base of the tub that needs regular hand cleaning. When the filter clogs, washing suffers and the tub drains slowly, and it's the first thing we check. Many models also have an anti-flood system: a float switch in the base pan detects water and stops the machine, often running the drain pump. If yours stops and shows a flood-related fault, a leak inside the cabinet is likely. Door hinges and springs on fully integrated models carry heavy custom panels and can wear. Inlet valves, drain pumps and heating elements are the other common repairs.
Parts that tend to fail on Smeg dishwashers
- Filter clogged, slow draining
- Anti-flood float triggered by a leak
- Drain pump failing
- Door hinge spring worn under panel weight
- Heating element not warming water

Quick answers to what people ask most. If yours isn't here, bring it up on the phone or type it into the notes box when you book.
Something else on your mind?
Reach out with the brand, the symptom and a model number if you have one. Some questions we can answer on the spot; the rest a technician can check in person.
The anti-flood system has likely detected water in the base. We find and fix the leak, then dry the base pan so the float resets.
Check the manual for your model; many recommend regular cleaning. A clogged filter is a common cause of poor results and slow draining.
