Whirlpool Dishwasher Repair in Houses, Apartments and Rentals

We have no affiliation with Whirlpool and are not one of its service centers. A dishwasher still covered by the Whirlpool warranty belongs with Whirlpool first. Once it's out of coverage, give us the model number and the symptom when you book so we can look into parts ahead of time.

Basement laundry
In older houses the washer and dryer are often downstairs, past narrow steps and low beams, draining to a laundry tub or floor drain. Tell us how to get down there.
Rowhouses & older homes
New appliances often sit on old wiring, gas lines and vents. We check what feeds the machine as well as the machine.
Hillsides & parking
Steps up to the front door, permit-only blocks, alley entrances. A note about access when you book gets the visit started sooner.
Rentals & landlords
Tenants can book. The owner or manager gets the diagnosis and the price, and approves before any work.
Cold garages & porches
A spare fridge or freezer in an unheated space may stop holding temperature in winter without anything having failed. Check the manual's temperature range first.
Honest advice
If an older machine isn't worth the repair, we'll tell you so, and explain what actually broke.

How a Dishwasher Repair Visit Works

01

Describe the Problem

The brand, the model number if it's handy, and what the appliance is doing. A photo of the rating label is a bonus.

02

Diagnosis On Site

The technician tests the appliance and its power, water, drain, gas or vent until the failed part is found.

03

Explanation and Quote

You hear what failed and what the repair costs, then decide. Nothing starts without your OK.

04

Repair and Test

The part goes in, the appliance runs a cycle, and you see that it works before we leave.

How Whirlpool builds its dishwashers

Findlay, Ohio builds current Whirlpool dishwashers alongside the family's other badges, and most use a filter you clean by hand, seated in the tub floor. When it clogs, dishes come out gritty and the tub drains slowly, well before anything breaks. The drain pump, the inlet valve, the door latch and the heating element are the parts that fail. Some models use a heated dry element, while others rely on a fan or condensation. Older Whirlpool dishwashers had a self-cleaning grinder instead of a removable filter. Mineral scale from the water supply builds up on the spray arms and in the valve, so a slow-filling machine may just need its screen cleaned.

Parts that tend to fail on Whirlpool dishwashers

  • Filter clogged, dishes gritty
  • Drain pump failed or jammed
  • Water inlet valve not opening
  • Door latch not engaging
  • Heating element or thermostat failed

FAQ

Whirlpool Dishwasher: Questions We Hear

Quick answers to what people ask most. If yours isn't here, bring it up on the phone or type it into the notes box when you book.

Something else on your mind?

Reach out with the brand, the symptom and a model number if you have one. Some questions we can answer on the spot; the rest a technician can check in person.

Usually the filter needs cleaning. It turns and lifts out of the tub floor; rinse it under the tap. If the dishes are still dirty with a clean filter, we check the spray arms, the wash motor and the water supply.

A blinking panel is often a door latch or a control fault. Confirm the door is latched all the way and that nobody switched on the control lock. If it still won't start, we test the latch switch and the control.
