Maytag Dishwasher Repair in Houses, Apartments and Rentals

We have no affiliation with Maytag and are not one of its service centers. A dishwasher still covered by the Maytag warranty belongs with Maytag first. Once it's out of coverage, give us the model number and the symptom when you book so we can look into parts ahead of time.

Basement laundry
In older houses the washer and dryer are often downstairs, past narrow steps and low beams, draining to a laundry tub or floor drain. Tell us how to get down there.
Rowhouses & older homes
New appliances often sit on old wiring, gas lines and vents. We check what feeds the machine as well as the machine.
Hillsides & parking
Steps up to the front door, permit-only blocks, alley entrances. A note about access when you book gets the visit started sooner.
Rentals & landlords
Tenants can book. The owner or manager gets the diagnosis and the price, and approves before any work.
Cold garages & porches
A spare fridge or freezer in an unheated space may stop holding temperature in winter without anything having failed. Check the manual's temperature range first.
Honest advice
If an older machine isn't worth the repair, we'll tell you so, and explain what actually broke.

How a Dishwasher Repair Visit Works

01

Describe the Problem

The brand, the model number if it's handy, and what the appliance is doing. A photo of the rating label is a bonus.

02

Diagnosis On Site

The technician tests the appliance and its power, water, drain, gas or vent until the failed part is found.

03

Explanation and Quote

You hear what failed and what the repair costs, then decide. Nothing starts without your OK.

04

Repair and Test

The part goes in, the appliance runs a cycle, and you see that it works before we leave.

How Maytag builds its dishwashers

Maytag's Dual Power Filtration setup puts a fine filter and a stainless chopper blade in the sump. The chopper grinds soft food that reaches it, but a cherry pit, a bone or a shard of glass can jam it, and a filter that is never rinsed leaves grit on the glasses. So a poor-washing Maytag starts with pulling the filter and checking the chopper. Past that, the parts are standard Whirlpool dishwasher components built in Findlay, Ohio: drain pump, inlet valve, door latch, float switch and wash motor. Mineral scale from hard tap water also coats spray arm jets over time, and a descaling run with rinse aid often helps.

Parts that tend to fail on Maytag dishwashers

  • Chopper jammed by a pit or glass
  • Filter clogged, leaving grit behind
  • Drain pump failing to empty the tub
  • Inlet valve not letting water in
  • Door latch not closing the circuit

FAQ

Maytag Dishwasher: Questions We Hear

Quick answers to what people ask most. If yours isn't here, bring it up on the phone or type it into the notes box when you book.

Something else on your mind?

Reach out with the brand, the symptom and a model number if you have one. Some questions we can answer on the spot; the rest a technician can check in person.

Twist out the filter from the tub floor and wash it under the faucet, then look for debris around the chopper. Clogged spray arm holes and mineral scale can also leave film. If those are clean, we test the wash motor and water temperature.

Commonly the filter or chopper area is blocked, the drain hose is kinked, or the garbage disposer knockout was never removed on a new install. If the drain path is clear, the drain pump itself gets tested.
