Amana Dishwasher Repair in Houses, Apartments and Rentals

We have no affiliation with Amana and are not one of its service centers. A dishwasher still covered by the Amana warranty belongs with Amana first. Once it's out of coverage, give us the model number and the symptom when you book so we can look into parts ahead of time.

Basement laundry
In older houses the washer and dryer are often downstairs, past narrow steps and low beams, draining to a laundry tub or floor drain. Tell us how to get down there.
Rowhouses & older homes
New appliances often sit on old wiring, gas lines and vents. We check what feeds the machine as well as the machine.
Hillsides & parking
Steps up to the front door, permit-only blocks, alley entrances. A note about access when you book gets the visit started sooner.
Rentals & landlords
Tenants can book. The owner or manager gets the diagnosis and the price, and approves before any work.
Cold garages & porches
A spare fridge or freezer in an unheated space may stop holding temperature in winter without anything having failed. Check the manual's temperature range first.
Honest advice
If an older machine isn't worth the repair, we'll tell you so, and explain what actually broke.

How a Dishwasher Repair Visit Works

01

Describe the Problem

The brand, the model number if it's handy, and what the appliance is doing. A photo of the rating label is a bonus.

02

Diagnosis On Site

The technician tests the appliance and its power, water, drain, gas or vent until the failed part is found.

03

Explanation and Quote

You hear what failed and what the repair costs, then decide. Nothing starts without your OK.

04

Repair and Test

The part goes in, the appliance runs a cycle, and you see that it works before we leave.

What's inside an Amana dishwasher

Amana dishwashers are basic built-in machines using Whirlpool parts: a drain pump, a circulation or wash motor, an inlet valve, a float switch and a door latch. A filter left uncleaned for months leaves food specks and grit on dishes. Water standing in the tub usually points to a clogged filter, drain pump, drain hose or disposer connection. A dishwasher that will not fill may have an inlet valve that no longer opens or a float that has stuck in the up position. Mineral scale builds up over time on the inlet valve screen and spray arms. In an older house, the drain hose may never have been given a high loop or an air gap, which lets dirty sink or disposer water siphon back into the tub.

Parts that tend to fail on Amana dishwashers

  • Filter clogged
  • Drain pump failing
  • Inlet valve not filling
  • Float switch stuck
  • Door latch not engaging

FAQ

Amana Dishwasher: Questions We Hear

Quick answers to what people ask most. If yours isn't here, bring it up on the phone or type it into the notes box when you book.

Something else on your mind?

Reach out with the brand, the symptom and a model number if you have one. Some questions we can answer on the spot; the rest a technician can check in person.

First make sure the shutoff under the sink is fully open. If it is, the inlet valve, the float switch or the door latch may be at fault. We test each before replacing anything.

For a pump, valve, latch or float switch, often yes. A wash motor or control board on an older unit can cost close to a new one, and we compare both.
