LG Cooktop Repair in Houses, Apartments and Rentals

We have no affiliation with LG and are not one of its service centers. A cooktop still covered by the LG warranty belongs with LG first. Once it's out of coverage, give us the model number and the symptom when you book so we can look into parts ahead of time.

Basement laundry
In older houses the washer and dryer are often downstairs, past narrow steps and low beams, draining to a laundry tub or floor drain. Tell us how to get down there.
Rowhouses & older homes
New appliances often sit on old wiring, gas lines and vents. We check what feeds the machine as well as the machine.
Hillsides & parking
Steps up to the front door, permit-only blocks, alley entrances. A note about access when you book gets the visit started sooner.
Rentals & landlords
Tenants can book. The owner or manager gets the diagnosis and the price, and approves before any work.
Cold garages & porches
A spare fridge or freezer in an unheated space may stop holding temperature in winter without anything having failed. Check the manual's temperature range first.
Honest advice
If an older machine isn't worth the repair, we'll tell you so, and explain what actually broke.

How a Cooktop Repair Visit Works

01

Describe the Problem

The brand, the model number if it's handy, and what the appliance is doing. A photo of the rating label is a bonus.

02

Diagnosis On Site

The technician tests the appliance and its power, water, drain, gas or vent until the failed part is found.

03

Explanation and Quote

You hear what failed and what the repair costs, then decide. Nothing starts without your OK.

04

Repair and Test

The part goes in, the appliance runs a cycle, and you see that it works before we leave.

How LG builds its cooktops

LG makes induction, radiant electric and gas cooktops. The induction models run coils under the glass from power boards that are cooled by a fan, and a hot cabinet or a failing fan can make zones shut off mid-cook. Radiant models use ribbon elements, a hot-surface indicator and switches or touch controls; a dead zone usually traces to the element, a switch, or a burned terminal. Gas cooktops use sealed burners with electronic ignition, and moisture or boil-over in the burner base causes clicking and slow lighting. Cracked glass on an electric top means replacing the top, which we quote as a whole. We check the wiring connections too, especially where a cooktop was fitted into an older kitchen.

Parts that tend to fail on LG cooktops

  • Induction zone shutting off mid-cook
  • Induction power board failed
  • Radiant element open circuit
  • Burner igniter wet or cracked
  • Glass top cracked

FAQ

LG Cooktop: Questions We Hear

Quick answers to what people ask most. If yours isn't here, bring it up on the phone or type it into the notes box when you book.

Something else on your mind?

Reach out with the brand, the symptom and a model number if you have one. Some questions we can answer on the spot; the rest a technician can check in person.

Most often the pan isn't detected well because it's too small or not magnetic, or the unit is overheating from poor ventilation or a weak cooling fan. If the pan and airflow are fine, we test the coil and power board.

On most models, the glass comes as part of a top assembly. We price that assembly for your model number and tell you whether it makes sense against replacing the cooktop.
