Admiral Cooktop Repair in Houses, Apartments and Rentals

We have no affiliation with Admiral and are not one of its service centers. A cooktop still covered by the Admiral warranty belongs with Admiral first. Once it's out of coverage, give us the model number and the symptom when you book so we can look into parts ahead of time.

Basement laundry
In older houses the washer and dryer are often downstairs, past narrow steps and low beams, draining to a laundry tub or floor drain. Tell us how to get down there.
Rowhouses & older homes
New appliances often sit on old wiring, gas lines and vents. We check what feeds the machine as well as the machine.
Hillsides & parking
Steps up to the front door, permit-only blocks, alley entrances. A note about access when you book gets the visit started sooner.
Rentals & landlords
Tenants can book. The owner or manager gets the diagnosis and the price, and approves before any work.
Cold garages & porches
A spare fridge or freezer in an unheated space may stop holding temperature in winter without anything having failed. Check the manual's temperature range first.
Honest advice
If an older machine isn't worth the repair, we'll tell you so, and explain what actually broke.

How a Cooktop Repair Visit Works

01

Describe the Problem

The brand, the model number if it's handy, and what the appliance is doing. A photo of the rating label is a bonus.

02

Diagnosis On Site

The technician tests the appliance and its power, water, drain, gas or vent until the failed part is found.

03

Explanation and Quote

You hear what failed and what the repair costs, then decide. Nothing starts without your OK.

04

Repair and Test

The part goes in, the appliance runs a cycle, and you see that it works before we leave.

What's inside an Admiral cooktop

On Admiral ranges the cooktop is either exposed coils, a glass smoothtop over radiant elements, or open gas burners. Coil tops fail at the receptacle, where a loose element arcs and burns the terminals; replacing the element alone just burns the new one. Each electric burner is run by an infinite switch that can stick on high or stop cycling. Radiant elements under glass can open or lose their limiter. Gas burners light from spark igniters wired to a shared module, so a spill under one knob can make every igniter click. Cleaning, drying and testing come before replacing a module.

Parts that tend to fail on Admiral cooktops

  • Coil receptacle burned
  • Infinite switch stuck on high
  • Radiant element not heating
  • Spark igniter clicking nonstop
  • Burner ports clogged by spills

FAQ

Admiral Cooktop: Questions We Hear

Quick answers to what people ask most. If yours isn't here, bring it up on the phone or type it into the notes box when you book.

Something else on your mind?

Reach out with the brand, the symptom and a model number if you have one. Some questions we can answer on the spot; the rest a technician can check in person.

The terminals in the receptacle are probably burned or loose. We replace the receptacle and usually the element with it, since a pitted element will damage a new receptacle.

Moisture or food under a burner often shorts the spark switch or igniter. Letting it dry and cleaning the area sometimes fixes it. If the clicking continues, one switch has failed and is replaced.
