How Bosch builds its cooktops
Bosch induction cooktops heat the pan directly using coils under the glass, driven by power boards that need cooling air from a fan beneath the unit. If that airflow is blocked by a drawer or items stored under the cooktop, the boards overheat and zones shut down. A pan that doesn't hold a magnet won't work, and the display often shows an indicator that no cookware is detected. Gas cooktops use spark igniters and a spark module, and a wet or dirty electrode keeps clicking. Radiant electric units use elements under the glass. Touch controls can misread when wet, so the glass is wiped dry before testing.
Parts that tend to fail on Bosch cooktops
- Induction zone not detecting the pan
- Cooling fan under the cooktop failed
- Power board overheating
- Gas igniter clicking constantly
- Touch controls not responding

Bosch Cooktop: Questions We Hear
Quick answers to what people ask most. If yours isn't here, bring it up on the phone or type it into the notes box when you book.
Something else on your mind?
Reach out with the brand, the symptom and a model number if you have one. Some questions we can answer on the spot; the rest a technician can check in person.
Usually not. Most often a power board, a coil connection or the pan itself is the issue. We test with a known magnetic pan first, then check the board and coil for that zone.
It may be protecting itself from heat. Check that the space under it has the ventilation the install guide requires. If it still cuts out, the cooling fan or a temperature sensor may have failed.
