Hotpoint Cooktop Repair in Houses, Apartments and Rentals

We have no affiliation with Hotpoint and are not one of its service centers. A cooktop still covered by the Hotpoint warranty belongs with Hotpoint first. Once it's out of coverage, give us the model number and the symptom when you book so we can look into parts ahead of time.

Basement laundry
In older houses the washer and dryer are often downstairs, past narrow steps and low beams, draining to a laundry tub or floor drain. Tell us how to get down there.
Rowhouses & older homes
New appliances often sit on old wiring, gas lines and vents. We check what feeds the machine as well as the machine.
Hillsides & parking
Steps up to the front door, permit-only blocks, alley entrances. A note about access when you book gets the visit started sooner.
Rentals & landlords
Tenants can book. The owner or manager gets the diagnosis and the price, and approves before any work.
Cold garages & porches
A spare fridge or freezer in an unheated space may stop holding temperature in winter without anything having failed. Check the manual's temperature range first.
Honest advice
If an older machine isn't worth the repair, we'll tell you so, and explain what actually broke.

How a Cooktop Repair Visit Works

01

Describe the Problem

The brand, the model number if it's handy, and what the appliance is doing. A photo of the rating label is a bonus.

02

Diagnosis On Site

The technician tests the appliance and its power, water, drain, gas or vent until the failed part is found.

03

Explanation and Quote

You hear what failed and what the repair costs, then decide. Nothing starts without your OK.

04

Repair and Test

The part goes in, the appliance runs a cycle, and you see that it works before we leave.

What's inside a Hotpoint cooktop

Hotpoint built-in cooktops are uncommon, since most Hotpoint cooking is freestanding. When one does turn up, it's usually a basic electric coil unit or a radiant smooth-top. Coil cooktops have simple faults: a coil element that has burned open, a receptacle scorched by a loose connection, or an infinite switch that no longer cycles. Radiant tops use elements under the glass with a limiter, and a zone that won't heat, or won't turn off, usually traces to the element or its switch. Many of these parts match GE equivalents, which makes them easy to get. The glass top is replaceable on some models, though its cost has to be weighed against a new cooktop.

Parts that tend to fail on Hotpoint cooktops

  • Coil element burned out
  • Receptacle scorched
  • Infinite switch failed
  • Radiant element open
  • Glass top cracked

FAQ

Hotpoint Cooktop: Questions We Hear

Quick answers to what people ask most. If yours isn't here, bring it up on the phone or type it into the notes box when you book.

Something else on your mind?

Reach out with the brand, the symptom and a model number if you have one. Some questions we can answer on the spot; the rest a technician can check in person.

The infinite switch behind that knob has most likely failed closed. It's a separate part and a fairly quick repair.

Yes. Scorching usually comes from a loose connection at the element's terminals. We replace the receptacle and check the element, since a damaged element will burn up a new receptacle too.
