KitchenAid Cooktop Repair in Houses, Apartments and Rentals
We have no affiliation with KitchenAid and are not one of its service centers. A cooktop still covered by the KitchenAid warranty belongs with KitchenAid first. Once it's out of coverage, give us the model number and the symptom when you book so we can look into parts ahead of time.
How a Cooktop Repair Visit Works
Describe the Problem
The brand, the model number if it's handy, and what the appliance is doing. A photo of the rating label is a bonus.
Diagnosis On Site
The technician tests the appliance and its power, water, drain, gas or vent until the failed part is found.
Explanation and Quote
You hear what failed and what the repair costs, then decide. Nothing starts without your OK.
Repair and Test
The part goes in, the appliance runs a cycle, and you see that it works before we leave.
How KitchenAid builds its cooktops
KitchenAid builds its cooktops three ways: gas, radiant glass and induction. Gas models use a spark electrode at each burner and a switch on each knob, and a spill into a switch can leave the burners clicking. Some models have a high-output burner and a low simmer burner, which need their caps seated properly to light evenly. Radiant models use elements and controls under glass; a cracked glass top often needs the whole surface replaced. Induction cooktops use power boards and coils, and cookware must be magnetic. Touch controls can lock out when wet or when a control lock is on, so we check that first.
Parts that tend to fail on KitchenAid cooktops
- Spark switch stuck clicking
- Burner cap misaligned
- Radiant element failed
- Induction board not powering a zone
- Touch control locked or unresponsive

Something else on your mind?
Reach out with the brand, the symptom and a model number if you have one. Some questions we can answer on the spot; the rest a technician can check in person.
The electrode may be dirty or wet, or the burner cap may be misaligned. If gas is flowing but not lighting, we check the spark path and the burner parts.
Yes. Many models have a control lock. Check the manual for how to unlock it. If it still won't respond, we test the power supply and control board.
