Avanti Cooktop Repair in Houses, Apartments and Rentals

We have no affiliation with Avanti and are not one of its service centers. A cooktop still covered by the Avanti warranty belongs with Avanti first. Once it's out of coverage, give us the model number and the symptom when you book so we can look into parts ahead of time.

Basement laundry
In older houses the washer and dryer are often downstairs, past narrow steps and low beams, draining to a laundry tub or floor drain. Tell us how to get down there.
Rowhouses & older homes
New appliances often sit on old wiring, gas lines and vents. We check what feeds the machine as well as the machine.
Hillsides & parking
Steps up to the front door, permit-only blocks, alley entrances. A note about access when you book gets the visit started sooner.
Rentals & landlords
Tenants can book. The owner or manager gets the diagnosis and the price, and approves before any work.
Cold garages & porches
A spare fridge or freezer in an unheated space may stop holding temperature in winter without anything having failed. Check the manual's temperature range first.
Honest advice
If an older machine isn't worth the repair, we'll tell you so, and explain what actually broke.

How a Cooktop Repair Visit Works

01

Describe the Problem

The brand, the model number if it's handy, and what the appliance is doing. A photo of the rating label is a bonus.

02

Diagnosis On Site

The technician tests the appliance and its power, water, drain, gas or vent until the failed part is found.

03

Explanation and Quote

You hear what failed and what the repair costs, then decide. Nothing starts without your OK.

04

Repair and Test

The part goes in, the appliance runs a cycle, and you see that it works before we leave.

What's inside an Avanti cooktop

Avanti's cooktops are compact two- and four-burner units, gas or electric, built for small kitchens, cabins and efficiency apartments. The gas models use sealed burners and spark ignition, so sparking with no flame usually comes from a wet or dirty igniter, a misaligned burner cap or clogged ports. On electric models with coil elements, the element, its receptacle and the infinite switch behind the knob are the parts that wear; a scorched receptacle can make a good coil look dead. Glass radiant tops add surface elements and limiters. Because these cooktops sit in narrow counters, the wiring and gas connection underneath are often cramped and need checking too.

Parts that tend to fail on Avanti cooktops

  • Igniter wet after a spill
  • Coil receptacle burned and loose
  • Infinite switch stuck on high
  • Burner cap misaligned after cleaning
  • Radiant element not glowing

Avanti Cooktop: Questions We Hear

Quick answers to what people ask most. If yours isn't here, bring it up on the phone or type it into the notes box when you book.

Something else on your mind?

Reach out with the brand, the symptom and a model number if you have one. Some questions we can answer on the spot; the rest a technician can check in person.

That points to a worn or burned receptacle, the socket the coil plugs into. Heat damages the contacts over time and the connection becomes intermittent. We replace the receptacle and usually the coil with it, since a burned terminal on the coil damages a new socket.

If the others work, it is usually local to that burner: a damp igniter, a cap not sitting flat, or ports clogged with food. Let it dry, clean the ports with a pin and reseat the cap. If it still won't catch, we test the igniter and the spark switch.
