Viking Cooktop Repair in Houses, Apartments and Rentals

We have no affiliation with Viking and are not one of its service centers. A cooktop still covered by the Viking warranty belongs with Viking first. Once it's out of coverage, give us the model number and the symptom when you book so we can look into parts ahead of time.

Basement laundry
In older houses the washer and dryer are often downstairs, past narrow steps and low beams, draining to a laundry tub or floor drain. Tell us how to get down there.
Rowhouses & older homes
New appliances often sit on old wiring, gas lines and vents. We check what feeds the machine as well as the machine.
Hillsides & parking
Steps up to the front door, permit-only blocks, alley entrances. A note about access when you book gets the visit started sooner.
Rentals & landlords
Tenants can book. The owner or manager gets the diagnosis and the price, and approves before any work.
Cold garages & porches
A spare fridge or freezer in an unheated space may stop holding temperature in winter without anything having failed. Check the manual's temperature range first.
Honest advice
If an older machine isn't worth the repair, we'll tell you so, and explain what actually broke.

How a Cooktop Repair Visit Works

01

Describe the Problem

The brand, the model number if it's handy, and what the appliance is doing. A photo of the rating label is a bonus.

02

Diagnosis On Site

The technician tests the appliance and its power, water, drain, gas or vent until the failed part is found.

03

Explanation and Quote

You hear what failed and what the repair costs, then decide. Nothing starts without your OK.

04

Repair and Test

The part goes in, the appliance runs a cycle, and you see that it works before we leave.

How Viking builds its cooktops

Viking rangetops and gas cooktops use sealed burners with spark ignition, and on many models the burners relight themselves if the flame goes out. That system is dependable, but a boil-over or a wet cleaning rag can soak a spark switch behind the knob, and then every burner clicks nonstop. A cracked ceramic electrode gives a weak spark at one burner. Burner caps that are not seated, or ports clogged with food, give an uneven or lifting flame. Models with a griddle or char-grill add a thermostat and burner that can drift or fail to light. Electric and induction Viking cooktops are a different job: elements, power boards and glass surfaces instead of gas parts.

Parts that tend to fail on Viking cooktops

  • Spark switch stuck after a spill
  • Cracked electrode giving a weak spark
  • Burner cap misaligned and uneven flame
  • Griddle thermostat drifting
  • Surface burner valve stiff

FAQ

Viking Cooktop: Questions We Hear

Quick answers to what people ask most. If yours isn't here, bring it up on the phone or type it into the notes box when you book.

Something else on your mind?

Reach out with the brand, the symptom and a model number if you have one. Some questions we can answer on the spot; the rest a technician can check in person.

The spark is there, so we check the burner itself: a cap not sitting flat, clogged ports, or a crack in the electrode that sends the spark to the wrong place. If those are fine, gas flow to that burner is tested.

Usually. The griddle has its own burner and a thermostat that controls the gas. A failing thermostat, a clogged burner or a weak igniter gives low or uneven heat. We test each before recommending a part.
