How Bertazzoni builds its cooktops
Bertazzoni gas cooktops use the same burner hardware as its ranges: sealed burners, a high-output dual-ring burner on most models, electronic spark ignition, and a flame-failure thermocouple on each burner. The dual-ring burner has inner and outer crowns that each have to be seated correctly, and a cap that sits wrong after cleaning gives an uneven or lifting flame. When a burner lights but goes out as soon as the knob is released, the thermocouple is dirty, bent away from the flame or worn. The induction cooktops are a separate design, with power boards, coils and cooling fans that fail for electronic, not gas, reasons.
Parts that tend to fail on Bertazzoni cooktops
- Thermocouple not holding valve open
- Dual-ring crown seated incorrectly
- Spark electrode cracked or fouled
- Constant sparking after boil-over
- Induction zone shutting off

Something else on your mind?
Reach out with the brand, the symptom and a model number if you have one. Some questions we can answer on the spot; the rest a technician can check in person.
Rarely, if other burners work. Usually the thermocouple tip is dirty, bent out of the flame, or no longer producing enough voltage to hold the valve. Cleaning and repositioning sometimes fixes it; otherwise we replace that burner's thermocouple.
No. Crowns and caps are sized for their burner base, and swapping them causes uneven flames or poor ignition. After cleaning, put each part back on its own base and check that the caps sit flat.
