Thor Kitchen Cooktop Repair in Houses, Apartments and Rentals

We have no affiliation with Thor Kitchen and are not one of its service centers. A cooktop still covered by the Thor Kitchen warranty belongs with Thor Kitchen first. Once it's out of coverage, give us the model number and the symptom when you book so we can look into parts ahead of time.

Basement laundry
In older houses the washer and dryer are often downstairs, past narrow steps and low beams, draining to a laundry tub or floor drain. Tell us how to get down there.
Rowhouses & older homes
New appliances often sit on old wiring, gas lines and vents. We check what feeds the machine as well as the machine.
Hillsides & parking
Steps up to the front door, permit-only blocks, alley entrances. A note about access when you book gets the visit started sooner.
Rentals & landlords
Tenants can book. The owner or manager gets the diagnosis and the price, and approves before any work.
Cold garages & porches
A spare fridge or freezer in an unheated space may stop holding temperature in winter without anything having failed. Check the manual's temperature range first.
Honest advice
If an older machine isn't worth the repair, we'll tell you so, and explain what actually broke.

How a Cooktop Repair Visit Works

01

Describe the Problem

The brand, the model number if it's handy, and what the appliance is doing. A photo of the rating label is a bonus.

02

Diagnosis On Site

The technician tests the appliance and its power, water, drain, gas or vent until the failed part is found.

03

Explanation and Quote

You hear what failed and what the repair costs, then decide. Nothing starts without your OK.

04

Repair and Test

The part goes in, the appliance runs a cycle, and you see that it works before we leave.

How Thor Kitchen builds its cooktops

Thor's gas rangetops and cooktops use sealed burners with a spark electrode at each burner and a spark module that fires them all. Clicking that won't stop usually means moisture around an electrode after a spill or cleaning, or a failed ignition switch on the valve stem. A burner that won't light or burns weak often has clogged ports or a cap that isn't seated; high-output burners are especially sensitive to partial clogs. Grates on a pro-style top are heavy, and dropping one can crack a porcelain electrode. Thor induction cooktops depend on pan detection and cooling fans, and zones shut down when the electronics overheat. We check each system in order.

Parts that tend to fail on Thor Kitchen cooktops

  • Igniter clicking nonstop
  • Burner not lighting
  • Weak flame from clogged ports
  • Induction zone shutting off
  • Knob loose or valve stiff

The general cooktop repair guide covers faults that turn up on every make.

FAQ

Thor Kitchen Cooktop: Questions We Hear

Quick answers to what people ask most. If yours isn't here, bring it up on the phone or type it into the notes box when you book.

Something else on your mind?

Reach out with the brand, the symptom and a model number if you have one. Some questions we can answer on the spot; the rest a technician can check in person.

If it started after a spill or cleaning, let the burner area dry fully. If the clicking continues, a switch on the valve stem or the spark module may have failed, and we test both.

It may be overheating because the cooling vents are blocked, it may not recognize the pan, or an electronic part may be failing. We check vents, cookware and controls.
