Amana Cooktop Repair in Houses, Apartments and Rentals

We have no affiliation with Amana and are not one of its service centers. A cooktop still covered by the Amana warranty belongs with Amana first. Once it's out of coverage, give us the model number and the symptom when you book so we can look into parts ahead of time.

Basement laundry
In older houses the washer and dryer are often downstairs, past narrow steps and low beams, draining to a laundry tub or floor drain. Tell us how to get down there.
Rowhouses & older homes
New appliances often sit on old wiring, gas lines and vents. We check what feeds the machine as well as the machine.
Hillsides & parking
Steps up to the front door, permit-only blocks, alley entrances. A note about access when you book gets the visit started sooner.
Rentals & landlords
Tenants can book. The owner or manager gets the diagnosis and the price, and approves before any work.
Cold garages & porches
A spare fridge or freezer in an unheated space may stop holding temperature in winter without anything having failed. Check the manual's temperature range first.
Honest advice
If an older machine isn't worth the repair, we'll tell you so, and explain what actually broke.

How a Cooktop Repair Visit Works

01

Describe the Problem

The brand, the model number if it's handy, and what the appliance is doing. A photo of the rating label is a bonus.

02

Diagnosis On Site

The technician tests the appliance and its power, water, drain, gas or vent until the failed part is found.

03

Explanation and Quote

You hear what failed and what the repair costs, then decide. Nothing starts without your OK.

04

Repair and Test

The part goes in, the appliance runs a cycle, and you see that it works before we leave.

What's inside an Amana cooktop

The cooktop on an Amana range comes in three versions. Coil electric tops use plug-in elements and receptacle blocks, which burn and loosen, so a burner that works only when wiggled needs a new receptacle and often a new element. Radiant glass tops use elements under the glass controlled by infinite switches, and a burner stuck on high or off points to the switch. Gas tops use spark ignition, and clicking that will not stop usually means a spark switch got wet during cleaning. Burner caps must be seated correctly for an even flame, and a yellow, lazy flame after a cap is replaced means it is sitting off-center. On radiant tops, a crack in the glass is a safety issue: the burner should not be used until the top is replaced.

Parts that tend to fail on Amana cooktops

  • Coil receptacle burned
  • Infinite switch failing
  • Radiant element not heating
  • Spark switch wet and clicking
  • Burner cap misaligned

FAQ

Amana Cooktop: Questions We Hear

Quick answers to what people ask most. If yours isn't here, bring it up on the phone or type it into the notes box when you book.

Something else on your mind?

Reach out with the brand, the symptom and a model number if you have one. Some questions we can answer on the spot; the rest a technician can check in person.

Usually a burned receptacle or a pitted element terminal. We replace the receptacle and the element if needed so the connection is solid.

A spark switch that got wet during cleaning is the usual cause. Let it dry. If it continues, the switch is replaced.
